Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ), in consultation with Showjumping New Zealand, announces its new Showjumping High Performance Leader and Showjumping Senior Selectors for the period July 2009 - December 2010:
A. ESNZ Showjumping High Performance Leader Richard Sunderland
Richard will be responsible for providing leadership, motivation, technical expertise and co-ordination within the ESNZ High Performance Programme for Showjumping; leading and supporting the capacity of Showjumping to achieve repeatable and sustainable international success, with a particular focus on the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Richard will work to deliver ESNZ HP targets via the Individual Performance Plans (IPPs) of selected Showjumping HP combinations.
The appointment process was undertaken by a panel appointed by ESNZ comprising of HP Director Sarah Harris, HP Panel Advisor Blyth Tait and Showjumping Performance Committee Chair Ross Coles.
Richards appointment takes effect immediately and runs until the end of December 2010.
B. Showjumping Senior Selectors

- Penny Stevenson
- Richard Sunderland (HP Leader - sits on panel without power of vote)
The senior selectors will be responsible for all showjumping team and squad selections (excluding junior) including the World Equestrian Games in 2010 and Senior Trans-Tasman competitions.
Both ESNZ and SJNZ have taken written notice of perceived or real conflicts of interest when making the above appointments and the appointments panel was instructed to consider these carefully when making their recommendations. Any such conflicts have been considered and noted as part of these appointments. ESNZ and SJNZ have documented how any such conflicts will be managed as and if required in due course.
