A dropped rail cost Kiwi showjumper Katie McVean victory in the $CAN90,000 Summer Festival CSI2* world cup grand prix at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, Ontario, yesterday.

McVean and nine-year-old Delphi had to settle for third place behind Canadians Lauren Hunkin on Larry 0146 and Jill Henselwood on Bottom Line in the event.
The relegation to third was made all the tougher because the Kiwi combination clocked the fastest time of the jump-off.
McVean pocketed $CAN13,500 for her efforts at the four day show aboard the current New Zealand Showjumper of the Year.
Earlier in the show she and Whitaker MVNZ won the 1.35m class and were a little unlucky in the 1.45m modified grand prix which saw them take the first fence but fly the rest of the course.
McVean and her team now head to a show in Ottawa where she and Delphi will start in a $CAN50,000 grand prix. Also on the cards is a $S250,000 grand prix at the Hampton Classic in New York in early September.
