Riders will present their horses to veterinarians and officials for inspection at 2pm today for the trot up before the Australian International three-day-event gets under way with the dressage tomorrow.
Some of the riders who have checked in at Victoria Park's temporary stables include Olympic gold medalists Wendy Schaeffer and Stuart Tinney, 2008 AI3DE CIC**** winner Christopher Burton, and four riders from New Zealand.
Adding a further international flavour to the event are FEI judges Michel Asseray from France, Sandy Phillips and Andrew Fletcher from Britain and Jutta Koivula from Finland, and FEI Technical Delegates Andy Griffiths (Britain) and Chalermcharn Yotviriyapanit (Tor) from Thailand have also touched down in Adelaide to critique the three days of eventing.
NSW-based Finnish rider Dominic Ingvall will start in the two-star class.
Event Director Gillian Rolton says the atmosphere in the parklands is building with the arrival of the riders and judges.
At four-star level, the Adelaide event is the highest ranked in Australasia. There are only five other four-star events in the world, and none of the others are staged in a city centre.
"The AI3DE is a great opportunity for people to get up close with Olympians and see world-class riders in action in the picturesque setting of Rymill Park," she said.
"Victoria Park has been transformed into a temporary stable housing close to 100 horses which will compete across three disciplines - dressage, cross country and show jumping - over three days."
As well as the four-star class, there are also a CCI2* and CIC2* (International One Day Event) classes.
The AI3DE also includes an extensive social calendar including the Dancing with the Stars lunch featuring a fashion parade, Party in the Park with DJ Wolfman providing beats deep into the night, Flicks in the Park screening a family movie on a big screen, BBQ Party in the Park allowing guests to rub shoulders with some of Australia's best riders and much more.
