Cambridge's Lizzie Brown led from start to finish in winning the three-star class at the Puhinui international three-day equestrian event today.

The win on Henton Attorney General sees her move to the top of the Super League at the halfway stage of the series.

Brown scored 46.2 dressage penalties, and jumped a clear cross-country round inside the optimum time, to go into today's showjumping phase with three rails in hand.

She eased through with only one rail down to win comfortably on a score of 50.2.

Lying second overnight, Jock Paget (Muriwai) had a showjumping round he'd rather forget. Riding Frances Stead's Clifton Piunot he dropped to fourth place on 83.8, allowing Brent Jury, the farrier from Cust in North Canterbury, to take second.

Jury, on SE Big. was the only other rider to go inside the set cross-country time and he finished strongly in the showjumping phase with just one rail down to secure second with 64.8.

Fellow Cantabrian Emily Butcher filled third place on 73.4 with Southern Ben, despite bringing three rails down in today's showjumping.

Eight of the 11 starters finished the event, contested in hot conditions on hard ground, to wind up the spring eventing season.
