Raymont produced the only double clear of the competition to win with his own Stardom, ahead of the New Zealand Performance Horses-owned Nicalette NZPH, in second. Christchurch’s Chris Harris on Zilco Te Peka Luciano could only manage third.

In the events other feature, the Marion Kelly Memorial Cathay Pacific One Star Grand Prix, Christchurch’s Brad Cunningham and Cheltenham took the honours with a double clear from Whangarie’s Vicki Wilson on Showtym Girl.

The North Islanders dominated the ponies taking a clean sweep of the placings. Dannevirke’s Logan Massie with his super little grey pony Kickin The Clouds continued the form which saw them take out last weeks national grand prix pony title taking the win ahead of Emily Fraser, of Takapua, on Tony The Pony, and Masterton’s Morgan Percy third with Surprise Illusion.

Earlier in the show the South Island's young rider team took victory in the inaugural North versus South Young Rider Teams Challenge, which was held in conjunction with the 1.30m.

The eight team riders rode first. At the end of the first round the teams were drawn on 12 faults apiece, with the top three scores counting. Both teams elected one rider to go forward to a jump off.

Current national young rider series leader Danielle Maurer was out first on her mighty crossbred Blue Rinse for the northerners, going clear in 35.45, but Cunningham and Cheltenham rose to the challenge coming home clear in 33.19, to give the South Island team the win.

The Cushionride Seven Year Old went to Ross Smith and Ajado the fastest of the double clears, with four tying for first in the Mitavite Six Year Old, while the Astek Stud Five Year Old went jointly to Kyle Timm (Auckland) on LC Riviere Rouge and Oxford’s Hayley Morris on Ka Pai Kiwi.

Logan Massie was also successful in the KiwiSpan Junior Rider after picking up a catch ride aboard Kiwi Ludo, while the IverQuantel Amateur Rider went to current national amateur rider series leader Tim Finch, down from Waipukurau, aboard Mr Munga III.
