New Zealand showjumper Katie McVean had a top result at a World Cup event in s'Hertogenbosch, in the Netherlands, yesterday.

McVean and her mount, Delphi, preparing for the World Cup final in Leipzig, Germany, this month, finished fourth at the final European World Cup round.

The field included many of the leading combinations in Europe. Among those she beat was former Olympic individual and team gold medallist Ludger Beerbaum of Germany.

McVean was one of four combinations to complete their rounds without faults and went to a jumpoff.

Delphi knocked one rail down in clocking 34.67s. The other three combinations were faultless with Dutch rider Albert Zoer, riding Sam, winning with the fastest time, 31.92s.

French rider Penelope Leprevost and Nunephar Jac were second in 34.37, with Jur Vrieling of the Netherlands, on VDL Bubalu, third in 34.79.
