Top Kiwi eventer Caroline Powell has donated a trophy for New Zealand's National Junior Three-Day-Event Championships.

Powell has donated the Lenamore Trophy for junior riders at the South Island 3DE at McLeans Island, from April 22 to 24. Powell, who is based in Scotland, is originally from Canterbury.

She represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games in 2008, and won team bronze at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky last year.

She and Lenamore won the Burghley Horse Trials in Britain last year.

The Young Rider 3DE Championship at McLeans Island will be competed over the CCI** track and the Junior 3DE Championship over the CCI* track.

The Swarbrick Trophy for the Young Rider 3DE National Title will now be contested as a single class rather than for the best performed Young Rider at the National Three-Day-Event at Taupo, as it has been in recent years.

Double points are on offer for CCI classes at McLeans Island for the Massey University Young Rider and Junior Series, which is expected to provide an extra incentive for North Island riders to head south next month.
