Jessica Woods and Too Predictable won the Charisma Trophy for the New Zealand Young Rider One-day Event Championship at Pukemarama, near Foxton, over the weekend, leading after the dressage phase and incurring no further penalties in either the cross-country or showjumping.
The 18-year-old has extended her already comfortable lead in the Massey University Young Rider series, and now appears unassailable, although there are several events yet to run before the conclusion of the series at the NRM Taupo Three-day Event on May 20-23.
Charlotte Grayling riding NRM Ru Star was close behind in second place, also completing on her dressage score without incurring penalties in either jumping phase, only 3.6 points behind Woods.
The New Zealand Junior Rider title was also keenly contested, with Francesca Silver winning the Hoffman Trophy on Case In Point, less than one point clear of Morgan Mackie on Banjo II.
The Advanced class was won by Bryce Newman on Bates Trademark, the only rider to complete without adding penalties to his dressage score. The win moves him into fourth position in the Bell Tea Super League, which also concludes at Taupo.
