James Avery wins NZ Young Rider 3DE title

Nelson's James Avery and Amarillo won the Swarbrick Trophy for the National Young Rider Three-day Event title at the South Island Three-day Event at McLeans Island over Easter weekend, placing second in the CCI2* class, which has seen them move into fourth place in the Massey University Young Rider series.

Holly Morrell and Antara Whiskey Mac made the long trip from Taupo in search of the title, but had to settle for runner-up, placing third in the CCI2*, but has moved into second place in the YR series, which culminates at the NRM National Three-day Event at Taupo, from May 20 to 22. The CCI2* winner was Larissa Srhoy, from Ashburton, riding Starburst, but she is no longer a Young Rider.

The inaugural Junior Three-day Event title was run in conjunction with the CCI1* class, with second placed Tayla Mason from Paraparaumu and Just Joop taking the title to win the Lenamore Trophy. Cantabrian Emily Cammock won the class on Shaw Lee.
