AUSTRALIAN eventing riders had mixed fortunes at the recent Luhmuhlen International Three-Day Event in Germany.
Beijing Olympic silver medallist Clayton Fredericks, from Perth, rode Dunges Laurent Rose to fifth place on 47.2 penalties. He jumped one of only five clear showjumping rounds to move him up three places.
The event was won by 45-year-old German Andreas Dibowski, who finished on 40 penalties.
Andrew Hoy, from Culcairn, NSW, was eighth in the One-Day Event, riding Rutherglen, but was eliminated on the cross-country course riding Cheeky Calimbo.
Wendy Schaeffer also competed in the One-Day Event riding Koyuna Sun Storm. She scored 55.6 penalties in the dressage phase but withdrew from the competition before the cross-country phase.
Another Australian, Paul Tapner, riding Stormhill Michael, withdrew before the showjumping phase.
English rider Mary King is leading the HSBC Classics on 28 points, New Zealand's mark Todd is third on 15 points and Fredericks is sixth on 12 points.
There are two rounds left in the series - Burghley, England in September and Adelaide in November.
